Why Drupal uses hooks, and why you should too

Drupal’s hook system is one of its most powerful features. Get introduced to what a hook looks like, why you should understand them, and why you should use them.

This presentation is aimed at beginning Drupal developers and those who want to have a better conceptual view of how Drupal works behind the scenes. It is appropriate as well for developers from other platforms or CMS that are looking to build custom sites “the Drupal way”. Real, working code will be used in this presentation (as long as the Internet holds up!). In fact, the companion code is available on drupal.org! See http://drupal.org/sandbox/wizonesolutions/1083160.

Extensive documentation is available on Drupal’s hooks and how to use them, so this presentation aims at communicating the concept rather than the specifics. However, questions on actual hook usage are welcome if there is time during the question and answer part.
