If anyone’s interested, here’s a Greasemonkey userscript that redirects http://2011.drupalcampla.com to the secure version at https://2011.drupalcampla.com

Some notes:

  1. The server uses secure cookies and it’s possible to be logged in twice at the same time (once via http and again via https), so be sure to log out (or clear your cookies) if you’re already logged in to http://2011.drupalcampla.com

  2. Last year’s camp site already uses SSL for logged in users, so this script only works for http://2011.drupalcampla.com
  3. This has been tested with Greasemonky for Firefox but it should also work with other browsers when used with GreaseKit, Trixie, etc.
  4. Rename the file attachment to drupalcamp_la_2011.user.js and install it as you would any other Greasemonkey userscript.

There's also a Firefox add-on called Force TLS

Also have a look at the wonderful Firefox add-on called Force TLS because it allows you to designate all or certain URLs to https mode regardless of how the web server originally conceived a page. I use it constantly, even though Firefox 5 now has Strict-Transport-Security baked in, because I like the user interface that Force TLS offers me.
