DrupalCamp LA 2011 starts Saturday, Aug 6
Get ready for the fifth annual DrupalCamp LA all this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 6-7.
You can beat the heat this year, since we’re all indoors at our new location in the air conditioned UC Irvine Conference Center. Join us for 60 high quality sessions and BoFs. There’s an install fest starting at 8AM Saturday, and our all-hands Kick-Off and Orientation sessions starts at 9AM. Bring cash for your lunch and parking ($10/day). And, yes, there are ATMs on campus. http://2011.drupalcampla.com/information
New to Drupal?
There’s a Drupal Install Fest on Saturday at 8AM where volunteers will help you get Drupal installed and can answer configuration questions for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. There are tons of sessions that are perfect for beginners and just as many sessions for intermediate and advanced levels. This year we have a dedicated Beginner Track to help you get a fast start if you’re new to Drupal.
Community & Sponsors
This is a community event. We need volunteers to help setup in the morning, help through the day, and help with cleanup at the end. Its not hard labor and its needed so please consider volunteering. Signup to volunteer now.
We could not pull this event off without the support of the community and our wonderful sponsors. Our PLATINUM sponsor this year is Stauffer New Media Development. Drop by and visit the sponsor tables in the Doheny Beach Gallery Lobby. http://2011.drupalcampla.com/sponsors
Camp Schedule v0.9983 Now Posted
The official DrupalCamp LA 2011 Schedule in now online. You can now log in to view and edit your own custom schedule.
Any sessions you have chosen will be indicated in the schedule with a check mark which is only visible when you’re logged in. Please resolve any conflicts and make sure you have only chosen one session per time slot, and post your suggestions in the forums. Remember, this is a camp and that means the schedule may have some small changes throughout the duration of the camp.
Are you presenting?
Presenters, please note the schedule times for your session(s). Let us know of any time restrictions especially if you can only attend one day (update your profile). Contact us with any concerns.
Presenters should have already received an e-mail from us with special instructions on how to prepare your laptop. If not, please come to the Presenter Setup session Saturday at 8AM, and read the details that we have provided for you.
We record each session and presenters need to download and install the Camtasia Relay video recording software, so we need all presenters to be ready before their session. By doing so you help us release high-quality camp videos and they’re even published automatically. In fact, there’s no need to worry about missing a session during the camp since each will be available for download just hours after our presenters stops recording.
Doors open at 8AM
DrupalCamp LA starts each morning at 8AM with registration. Registration check-in is required and takes place in the Doheny Beach Gallery Lobby, just inside the Conference Center entrance. Don’t forget, parking costs $10/day. Meet some sponsors, grab some coffee, buy a DrupalCamp shirt (half-off during the camp!), and please offer to help at the camp.
DrupalCamp all-hands Kick-off and Orientation at 9AM
After picking up your badge, head over to our all-hands DrupalCamp Kick-off and Orientation session starting at 9AM. We’ll give you the scoop on how to get around the Conference Center, sessions you won’t want to miss, etc. We are making it easy for you and it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Lunch 12PM
Lunch is 12:00-1:30PM both days. Walk over the Watson Bridge to the University Center, where you’ll find a variety of food options, including Veggie Grill, Lee’s Sandwiches, and In-n-Out Burger.
Drupal after dark, Saturday 7PM
This year we’ve again reserved the Anthill Pub for a private party for DrupalCamp attendees, Saturday night from 7PM-Midnight, with beverages sponsored by Media Temple. The Pub will have their kitchen open for dinner so you will be able to purchase something to eat while hanging out. The Pub takes cash only; so take note of the ATM machines next to the Pub.
Jobs & Prizes Available All Weekend In The Doheny Beach Gallery Lobby
At DrupalCamp LA, we’ll be using our lobby area for the jobs board, check-in, and raffle prize pickups. Our sponsors know the deal: you probably don’t want not miss any sessions, so we ask that you introduce yourselves to our sponsors when you get a chance. Come by to decompress and charge your laptop/phone. A map is available.
