DrupalCampLA Website Designed by This By Them

This year we are happy to announce that This by Them (a local boutique Drupal design and development shop) will be designing and building our camp website. The site, built from scratch, is based on Acquia Drupal 1.2. In addition to a fantastic design, the site feature-set was customized to support the needs of a Drupalcamp style event.

As you may expect, it will support event registration, user profiles, event sponsors, and ability to submit session proposals. However, instead of voting on sessions, attendees will pick sessions. By knowing the sessions people will actually attend, organizers will be able to both gauge interest and schedule sessions into appropriate size rooms. Even cooler is the ability for attendees to have a personalized event view and an iCal feed of that view. As an event attendee, gone are the days of wondering where you’re supposed to go next or if something you’re interested in has changed. This all adds up to real-time personalized scheduling. And hopefully, it supports our goal to maintain a small event feel, that just happens to have a lot of community!

In the spirit of the open source community, This by Them has chosen to release the work under a GPL license and freely available to the community. The finishing touches are still being applied. Details on availability will be posted on the F.A.Q.‘s page when the site is complete.
